Position Summary:

This co-op/internship provides an opportunity to work on development of biochemical and other analytical methods for recombinant proteins. Takeda discovers and makes therapeutics for treating cancer, rare diseases, immunological and gastrointestinal disorders as well as other therapeutic areas. Product Attribute Science Group in Analytical Development -Biological Department at Takeda Pharmaceuticals is looking for a highly motivated intern to help in evaluation of new analytical technologies and support analytical assays.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform analytical activities, including but not limited to charge-based assays, capillary electrophoresis, spectroscopic assays and oligosaccharide analysis to support in evaluating new analytical technologies (related to charge variant analysis and oligosaccharide composition of recombinant glycoproteins) and other variety of AD-Bio activities. A supervised research project will be performed in the six-month internship term and a presentation will be given by the candidate to the entire AD-Bio department at the end. The candidate will get the opportunity to design experiments and drive scientific conclusions based on the results. The candidate will be required to perform other general lab functions to support ongoing operations in AD-Bio.   

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a background in biochemistry, biotechnology, or biology. Current-enrolled college students from either undergraduate school or graduate school, or students seeking a six-month internship just after graduation are welcome to apply. Knowledge of capillary electrophoresis technique with general understanding of glycoproteins and post translational modifications would be a plus. Hands-on experience with microvolume pipetting, plate-based assays and spectroscopic assays is highly desirable but not required. They should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to seek guidance when necessary. The position requires good organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively as a team member.
