Title: Bioanalytical Intern (Co-op Student)-Mass Spectrometry

Position Summary:

The Structural Characterization Group in Analytical Development – Biologics Department at Takeda Pharmaceuticals is looking for a highly motivated intern to provide analytical support for protein-based drug candidates.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins, mainly by mass spectrometry, HPLC and other analytical methods to support a variety of activities in AD-Bio. A supervised research project e.g. method development for peptide mapping and N-glycan analysis will be performed in the six-month internship term and a presentation will be given by the candidate to the entire AD-Bio department at the end. This candidate will also assist in mass spectrometry instrument maintenance and lab management. The candidate will be required to perform other general lab functions to support ongoing operations in AD-Bio, including document preparation, and data review and management.
   
Qualifications:

The candidate should have a background in biochemistry, chemistry, or biology. Current-enrolled college students from either undergraduate school or graduate school, or students seeking a six-month internship just after graduation are welcome to apply. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical laboratory and instrumentation skills, be self-motivated and well-organized. A decent understanding of protein structure is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, HPLC, and/or spectroscopic-based analysis of proteins, is highly preferred but not required. They should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to seek guidance when necessary. The position requires good organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively as a team member.
